Current features

Tanit is a local tax and practice-finance workspace built as a Windows desktop application. The features below are currently implemented.

01

Tax filing & planning

A full federal 1040 simulation with a line-by-line return viewer, entity-structure comparison across S-corp, PLLC, sole proprietorship, and C-corp with salary-split optimization, retirement planning through SEP-IRA, Solo 401(k), defined-benefit plans, and Backdoor Roth conversions, quarterly estimated-tax vouchers with safe-harbor calculations, and multi-state tracking for practitioners who work across state lines.

02

Books & cash flow

A full general ledger with practice-level KPIs and financial statements, invoicing and payables with 1099 tracking for contractors you pay, budgeting and cash-flow and net-worth tracking, what-if income scenarios, and mileage, debt, and insurance tracking alongside it all.

03

Getting your data in

A document inbox that reads W-2s, 1099s, and other common tax forms, bank and card import alongside a live sync integration for practice-management data, and an e-filing handoff for contractor 1099s plus file exchange with your CPA.

04

Tax guidance

An AI assistant you can connect with your own API key for tailored answers, an offline tax guide with sourced federal content and state content for 13 states so far (growing toward all 50) for when you'd rather not, and a ranked opportunity dashboard that surfaces savings as your numbers change.

05

Data storage and security

Everything runs locally on your machine — your financial data is never uploaded. A local, encrypted database, PIN and two-factor login, and automatic local backups, with an option to sync them to your own cloud storage.

Built for your field

Support for different healthcare professions

The core engine — federal and state tax, entity comparison, retirement, books — is the same for everyone. Only the specialty data changes: your NPI, your deduction categories, your specialty list.

🪘

Dentists

Practice-owner-aware entity comparison (S-corp/PLLC/sole prop), dental-specific deduction tracking (lab fees, equipment, CE), and multi-state tracking for associates who travel between offices.

💉

CRNAs

Built for 1099 locum and W-2 hospital-employed CRNAs alike, with automatic entity-structure comparison as your income scales and multi-state tracking for travel assignments.

🧠

Therapists & Counselors

Covers LCSW, LPC/LMHC, and psychologist private practice, with expense tracking built around a service business and entity comparison as your caseload grows.

🐾

Veterinarians

Practice-owner tax planning for general and specialty veterinary practice — the same entity-structure and deduction tools built for every other healthcare field, tailored to yours.

🩺

Physicians (MD/DO)

Whether W-2, 1099, or a mix, Tanit tracks both sides of your income and models the entity structure that fits your practice.
